Solar developer pledges $60,000 toward Louisa County fairgrounds barn project if permit approved

Mallory Vance, speaking on behalf of the fairgrounds committee and her mother Kathy Vance, told the board the committee and contractor have received flood permits from the state Department of Natural Resources and that the project is moving toward construction. "The foundation is ready to take on construction, and so framing is supposed to begin in December," she said.
Vance said Ranger Power, the solar company seeking permitting for projects along Highway 92, has selected the barn project for public-support funding and "they are awarding the project $20,000 after Thanksgiving and another $40,000 when they receive their permit from the county." She asked the board to note the conditional donation and to expedite any necessary permitting to enable the contribution.
The report also noted the committee is prepared to begin framing work once funding and permit conditions are met; Vance offered to collect additional questions for the committee and the contractor to answer later.
The board did not take a formal vote on the donation at the meeting; the information was presented during public comment and entered into the record for follow-up by the relevant staff and committee members.
