Supervisors hear nonprofit and volunteer requests, approve appointments and a minor subdivision

At its Dec. 22 meeting the Chickasaw County Board heard community presentations and routine appointments.
Jennifer Lance, Foster Grandparent director, asked the board for $5,000 to support volunteer recruitment, training and mileage for a program serving four counties. "I requested $5,000," Lance said, describing a federal stipend structure and service sites in Chickasaw County.
Volunteers from Binder Cemetery (including Dale and Judy Little and Steve Tennant) reported recent restoration work, highlighted equipment needs and described a proposed trailer purchase and leadership reorganization within their group.
Paige Eberly, director of development and public relations for Riverview Center, described services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, partnerships with law enforcement and hospital advocates and requested county support. The board said it would consider the agency’s annual request during budget review.
On appointments, the board appointed Dr. Lucas Bergman as Chickasaw County medical examiner to a two-year term starting Jan. 1, 2026, and appointed Dale Little and Judy Little to three-year terms on the Pioneer Cemetery Commission beginning Jan. 1, 2026. The board also approved resolution 12-22-25-59, a minor subdivision creating additional parcels to permit a sale of a house and garage.
Board members thanked volunteers and noted the budget office will consider nonprofit requests as part of the upcoming budget work sessions.
