Summary
The board adopted a resolution setting consultation and a Jan. 19 public hearing on a proposed amendment to the CWEC Urban Renewal Plan that would raise the not-to-exceed TIF allocation for the B22 project from $2 million to $3 million.
The Chickasaw County Board voted Dec. 22 to set a consultation meeting and a public hearing on a proposed amendment to the CWEC Urban Renewal Plan that would increase the TIF (tax increment financing) cap for the B22 project from $2,000,000 to $3,000,000.
The board approved resolution 12-22-25-60, which schedules a consultation meeting with affected taxing bodies on Dec. 30 and a public hearing in the boardroom on Jan. 19. "This is the change from $2,000,000 to $3,000,000 not to exceed for the B22 project," the chair said when presenting the resolution.
The resolution instructs the county auditor to publish required notices in the newspaper with specified timing for legal publication and lays out next steps for the urban renewal amendment process. The board said the amendment is being pursued so the county does not have to rely on local funds should project costs exceed earlier estimates.
Board members discussed the procedural steps and the need to notify taxing bodies and the public; the motion to adopt the resolution passed on roll call.
A consultation meeting with all affected tax bodies is scheduled for Dec. 30, and a public hearing on the amendment is scheduled for Jan. 19 in the Chickasaw County Boardroom.
