Mitchell County's treasurer presented the county's November receipts at the Board of Supervisors meeting on Dec. 9 and the board approved a resolution authorizing interfund transfers into a newly created subproject fund.
The treasurer (addressed in the meeting as "Miss Flores") reported total collections for November of $2,403,354.98. Motor vehicle payments to the state were $249,001.27, and Mitchell County retained $17,006.44 from motor vehicle and driver's license collections. Interest on investments totaled $83,584.47 from short‑term CDs and savings, the treasurer said.
Following the report, the board considered Resolution No. 1341‑25, an interfund operating‑transfer authorization that allows the auditor to periodically transfer sums from the general basic fund to a subproject fund for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, with a maximum transfer cap of $300,000. Speaker 2 read the resolution terms, including a 300,000 maximum transfer limit and direction that transfers not exceed available fund balances. The board moved, seconded and approved the resolution by roll call.
Speaker 5 said the subproject fund was intended to cover unexpected maintenance or repairs to county buildings and grounds and that the board would transfer half of the proposed $300,000 budget at this time.
The resolution directs the auditor to record transfers and notify the treasurer when transfers are made. The motion passed and the board will implement transfers consistent with fund availability and the adopted limit.
Next steps: auditor and treasurer will coordinate transfers as needed; the board will monitor the subproject account for future budget decisions.
