Board approves EMA appropriation to advance county radio tower project

The Crawford County Board adopted a resolution Wednesday to approve an appropriation amendment that moves Emergency Management Agency (EMA) budgeted dollars and tower funds to cover outstanding costs on the county’s radio tower project.
Board members said approximately $175,000 was already budgeted for the year and an additional $100,000 from the tower fund was available; that, combined with other allotments, will be applied toward an estimated $425,000 project total. Staff noted the towers are up and communicating, but some internal componentry and redundancy issues may require additional work.
Supervisors emphasized the need for clarity about which expenses were already budgeted versus which require transfer from reserves; staff explained board action is needed to move budgeted funds in the county financial system. The motion to approve the appropriation was moved by Kyle, seconded and approved by voice vote.
