Crawford County supervisors approve gravel contracts, emergency-management funding and veterans proclamation

The Crawford County Board of Supervisors on Oct. 28 approved several routine administrative and public-works items, moved a $425,268 appropriation to the county Emergency Management Department and voted to back Operation Greenlight, a veterans lighting campaign.

At the start of the meeting the board approved minutes and the sheriff’s quarterly report for July 25 through Sept. 25. On a motion by Schultz, seconded by Dozart, the board approved purchases of granular road-maintenance material: 40,000 tons from Alex Materials at $9.98 per ton and 10,000 tons from Walley Pitt at $9.45 per ton to support 2026 road applications. The motion passed unanimously.

Supervisors also approved a letter of understanding with auditing firm Bellingkind and accepted an estimate from Vasquez Construction for snow removal at the courthouse and associated county buildings. Separately, the board passed Resolution 2025-39 appropriating $425,268 to the Emergency Management Department to support county emergency preparedness and response operations.

The board unanimously approved a proclamation supporting Operation Greenlight for veterans, scheduled locally for Nov. 4–11. Board members said they would coordinate where lighting or displays could be placed around county facilities.

Public works staff gave a progress update on an in‑county bridge project, reporting that final shoulder work, pavement markings and riprap placement remain; the contract includes quartzite riprap specifications. Staff said minor punch-list items remain but the structure can be opened while some approach work is completed next season.

The board recessed for a short break and confirmed that several items will return on future agendas for routine review and final signatures.
