The Winchester School Committee approved several routine consent items and ratified a negotiated Unit C agreement at its Nov. 20 meeting.
Consent agenda: The committee considered and accepted the consent agenda, which included: an Elks Lodge $200 grant to Winchester High School, an ANCA Society $750 grant for Combat Robotics and a $2,000 grant for research databases at McCall, a Winchester Basketball Association donation of benches (approximate value $1,812.71) for the WHS gym, an Ambrose Elementary PTO donation of $6,286.52 to the Ambrose media center, and approval of Oct. 9 minutes. A motion and second were recorded; the transcript does not include a roll-call tally for the consent agenda.
Unit C agreement ratification: The committee then considered ratification of the Unit C memorandum of agreement. A motion to ratify was made and seconded. The committee proceeded to a roll-call vote with the following results recorded in the transcript: Dr. Matthews — Aye; Ms. Minyargi — Aye; Mr. Hawk — Aye; Chair (name not given) — Aye. The transcript records the vote as unanimous and the Unit C agreement as ratified. Committee members thanked WEA representatives and staff for their work on the contract.
Executive session: Following those actions, a committee member moved that the body enter executive session for three purposes: (1) strategy for non-union administrative contract negotiations (purpose 2); (2) strategy with respect to collective bargaining with Unit A (purpose 3); and (3) consideration of purchase/exchange/lease or value of real property (purpose 6). The committee voted to enter executive session and adjourn directly from it.
No detailed motions, vote tallies beyond the Unit C roll call, or contractual terms were read aloud into the public record during the meeting transcript.
