School committee unanimously approves consent items and updates restraint and bullying policies

The committee accepted a €10,871 grant from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation toward the high school Italian program, approved an out‑of‑state trip to Princeton, N.J., for the ninth‑through‑12th‑grade Latin Quiz Bowl team, accepted a $4,890 donation from the high‑school PFA, and approved minutes from Aug. 21, 2025. A motion to accept the consent agenda carried unanimously with ayes recorded by Dr. Matthews, Ms. Bergstrom, Mr. Hopcroft, Ms. Munyarji, and the chair.
Bullying response and restraint policies
The committee then completed a second reading and approved the biannual bullying response and intervention plan, which the central office described as largely grammatical updates with curriculum references to McCall and Winchester High School; the approval fulfilled the district’s required biannual review. The vote was unanimous.
Separately, the committee approved an updated JKAA restraint policy (second reading) after noting the state provided more specific required language; that motion also passed unanimously.
Executive session and adjournment
The committee voted to enter executive session for purposes of strategy sessions related to nonunion administrative personnel negotiations and collective bargaining with units A and C, and to adjourn directly from executive session. Roll‑call votes were aye and the public session ended.
