Winchester invited into MSBA eligibility for Morocco School; timeline and next steps outlined

The superintendent identified Rebecca as the project coordinator who will serve as the district’s primary point of contact and lead the eligibility work. He said eligibility will formally begin after an MSBA vote expected in March; once that vote occurs the district will have 270 days to deliver required materials and seek advancement to the feasibility phase.
Dr. Hackett cautioned that MSBA calendar gaps and external dependencies — including timing for selecting an owner’s project manager and an architect — mean the district’s schedule will depend on multiple parties meeting deadlines. He also said the final project could be either a new building or a renovation/addition, and enrollment projections will drive building size and cost.
Asked whether the project could be “shovel ready” in about two years, Dr. Hackett said there is still uncertainty but suggested a plausible occupancy in the 2030–31 school year if the process runs smoothly and the district obtains community support and meets MSBA requirements.
No formal vote was required at the meeting; Dr. Hackett invited questions and the committee discussed timing and community outreach next steps.
