City Manager James R Lewis opened the meeting’s updates with multiple community announcements.
Lewis confirmed an application from Chick‑fil‑A to locate at the northeast corner of Highway 101 and San Ramon and said the city will work through the development process with the company. He also described recent improvements at the Central Coast Zoo: upgraded freezer and refrigeration capacity funded by Friends of the Zoo, PG&E and a private donor to help care for animal residents and support events like the ice cream safari during transitions.
Other highlights included a recent bridal expo that promoted pavilion rentals, completed skatepark resurfacing and planned ribbon cutting, and Boy Scout Troop 51’s project to plant 10,000 daffodil bulbs (about 1,000 planted at Lake Park to date). Lewis also previewed the city’s Fall Fest and Colony Days parade and noted Atascadero Day at Cal Poly on Nov. 22 where Fire Chief Bryson will be recognized for years of service.
