Board approves interdistrict busing agreements, extends interim service and appoints middle school assistant principal

The Locust Valley board approved its consent agenda, which included two interdistrict busing agreements intended to help music students travel to county programs and an upstate competition, a temporary 10-day extension for 'mister Gulati' to remain on staff after the start of the new year, and the hiring of Kathy Graham as the district's new middle school assistant principal.

The board emphasized that the agreements are routine administrative partnerships intended to reduce family travel costs. One speaker said jointly approving travel "helps our parents and our families, our students, parents, and families avoid close to $300 a person," adding that the combined arrangement reduced per-family costs compared with traveling alone.

Trustees also approved several policy revisions and abolitions that the administration said had been absorbed into updated policies. The appointments and extensions were handled on the consent calendar and approved by voice vote with unanimous assent.

The board publicly thanked LV EPC for a donation accepted in the consent agenda for 'buddy bench' signage at primary schools and commended facilities and administrative staff for their response to recent storm-related power outages.
