"We could probably cover more than just opioid-specific services," staff said, noting allowable uses listed by the Iowa Attorney General include activities to prevent or treat opioid use disorder and related social determinants of health. One supervisor moved to approve the $13,844 allocation from the opioid settlement fund for a community health worker; the motion was seconded and carried with recorded 'Aye' votes.
The allocation is for one year of the position; staff said they would return next year with continued budget requests if needed.
