School board approves student trips to Washington, Gettysburg, Boston and London/Paris

Teachers from Frank Lloyd Wright (FLW) presented an October 2026 Washington, D.C. and Gettysburg itinerary for current seventh graders (next year’s eighth graders), describing an all-inclusive package priced at $1,999 that covers round-trip transportation, three meals per day, admissions, three nights’ lodging and tour guides. Presenters noted discounts for early sign-up, payment-plan options, scholarship opportunities through the travel company and recommended trip insurance for families. The board moved and approved action items 11.1 and 11.2 covering those trips.
Administrators also sought approval for an October 2027 Boston trip (quoted at $2,434 all-inclusive with a $325 optional trip-insurance add-on) and for a London–Paris AP-aligned trip presented by English teacher April Ellery. Ellery said the curriculum aligns with AP social-studies and AP English material, and described typical itineraries to museums, historical sites and curricular activities. The board moved, seconded and approved action item 11.3 for the international trip.
Board members asked procedural questions about logistics, and presenters emphasized that payment processes and scholarship inquiries are handled through the travel vendor (WorldStrides/World Strides as named in the presentation materials). All travel approvals passed by voice vote at the meeting.
