At the Dec. 8 meeting the West Allis–West Milwaukee superintendent, Dr. Robinson, told the school board that the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has established a prorated special education aid rate of 35% for the Nov. 17, 2025 payment, lower than the 42% estimate projected in the prior biennium budget.
Dr. Robinson said the interim 35% rate is intended to prevent overpayments until full eligibility and final financial data are reported; the rate will be adjusted in June 2026 when DPI calculates each local education agency’s final share. "We have received 35%. We will be receiving 35. Hopefully that 7% gap will be closed at some point," he said.
Robinson also used his report to recognize district communications staff for winning two Spectrum Awards from the Wisconsin School Public Relations Association for the district’s referendum campaign and a student-centered video. He noted recent visits to the field house, preview events and athletics achievements across Nathan Hale and West Allis Central.
The superintendent introduced student voice representative Tobias Jesse and thanked parents and staff involved in recent outreach and referendum follow-ups. The report concluded with routine calendar reminders and upcoming workshops on referendum updates in January.
Next steps: Dr. Robinson said DPI adjustments will be reflected after June 2026 financial reconciliations; the district will monitor final SPED aid figures and report back when official numbers are available.
