North Shore Chamber outlines partnership with Shorewood and launches 'Northshore Works' pilot

Dave Christiansen, deputy director of the North Shore Chamber of Commerce, told the Village Board that the Chamber has formalized a partnership with Shorewood and represents businesses across seven communities from Shorewood to Brown Deer. The Chamber said it has about 300 members and runs roughly 45 events annually that rotate among members.
Christiansen highlighted a workforce initiative called Northshore Works, launching in January as a pilot with Nicolet Union High School and with interest from Brown Deer High School. The program will offer career-based learning, classroom visits, site visits and youth apprenticeships to connect students with local employers and workforce pathways.
Trustees welcomed the partnership and asked staff to coordinate further; board members said the Chamber could help with regionwide outreach for community events such as a planned domestic violence awareness panel. Christiansen said the Chamber focuses both on driving outside foot traffic to commercial districts and on workforce-development supports for member employers.
