Brown County supervisor briefs Ashwaubenon on $178M South Bridge Connector project

Brown County Supervisor Zeke Przybelski, representing District 21 (which includes most of Ashwaubenon), offered a public comment at the Dec. 16 Ashwaubenon Village Board meeting updating residents on the South Bridge Connector (also referred to as the South Bridge project).
Przybelski said the project consists of four bridges — one over the Fox River, one over the East River, one spanning railroad infrastructure and a smaller hemlock/auxiliary structure — and estimated the total project cost at approximately $178,000,000. He said roughly 70% of the project’s funding is expected from state and federal sources and that the remaining 30% would be shared among Brown County and municipalities including De Pere, Ledgeview and Lawrence.
Przybelski said his planning, development and transportation committee recently received an extensive update on bridge aesthetics, and he encouraged interested residents to consult the Brown County Highway Department’s website for detailed project materials.
His remarks were delivered during the public comment portion of the Ashwaubenon meeting; no board action on the county project was taken.
