The Marshall County Board of Supervisors selected Jared Heil as chair at its annual organizational meeting on Jan. 2, 2026, moving the board into its leadership structure for the year.
The selection came during the meeting's Item 5 business. A supervisor moved to name Jared Heil chair and the motion, after a second, passed on a roll-call vote recorded in the meeting minutes.
The board briefly discussed whether to swap who physically sat in the chair for recording purposes and agreed to leave the chair in place for recording and to swap name assignments at a later meeting. After the selection, Heil addressed the board and attendees: "we are kicking off the year 2026, the 250th year of The United States of America," and asked that the meeting stand for the national anthem as a kickoff to the year.
Separately, the board reviewed and approved department liaison assignments for supervisors, with Kevin named as the department-head meeting representative. The liaison assignments—covering assessor, auditor-recorder, attorney, conservation, emergency management, engineer/secondary roads, information services, public health, sheriff's office, treasurer, veterans affairs, and planning and zoning—were discussed, corrected on the record where necessary, and approved by motion and roll-call vote.
The board indicated staff would post the corrected liaison list to the meeting screen and distribute it by email for inclusion in the minutes.
The board confirmed its next regular session for Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026 at 9 a.m. in the courthouse 1st Floor Meeting Room.
