The decision updates the town’s formal limits for general assistance, the state-run program that defines income and household-size eligibility for emergency aid. Board members asked staff to provide recent demand numbers; staff said applications were somewhat higher this year and offered to bring detailed caseload figures to a future meeting.
The vote was procedural: the ordinance updates reflect state changes rather than a new local policy. The town will implement the revised maximums immediately and staff will supply data on client volume at a subsequent meeting.
