Board approves DNR-funded swap building, accepts collection-center report and clears routine business

Tim and county staff described a DNR grant that covers the cost of a portable "swap" building and a digital pallet scale for tracking incoming hazardous materials; presenters said the award covered up to $10,000 with no local match required. "The grant has been approved," Tim said; the board moved (Bob), seconded (Corey) and authorized Tim to sign the application. The motion carried unanimously.
The board also accepted and placed on file the final report for last year's sorting-building improvements and issued retainage for that project. Routine items handled by unanimous votes included approval of minutes, approval of claims, and three personnel additions for the sheriff's office (three new hires). Planning staff presented and the board approved a minor plat for estate-planning purposes by motion of Bob and second by Tory.
No fiscal matches were required for the DNR grant described in the meeting; staff said the improvements aim to reduce hazardous-materials costs and improve convenience for citizens using the collection center.
