Chickasaw County approves EMS personnel status changes and hire

Chickasaw County supervisors on Nov. 24 approved several personnel actions in the county EMS department: two status changes and one new part-time hire. A hiring item for a different part-time EMS driver was removed because the position had not been advertised, a staff member said.
Supervisor motion approved a status change for Sharon DeRolbert from part-time EMT to part-time RN/exempt paramedic at a wage of $24.67 per hour, effective Nov. 24, 2025. A second motion approved Carly Hudson’s status change to part-time RN (transcript lists Carly/Hartson/Hudson variations) at $23.78 per hour. The board also approved hiring Brady Norman as a part-time paramedic at $27 per hour after a background check was completed and approved.
Supervisors discussed workforce levels and the impact of each hire on payroll and scheduling and directed EMS leadership to return with a fuller staffing recommendation at a future meeting. Several supervisors asked for more information on department targets for full-time equivalents and workload before additional hires.
