After recessing into a closed session to consider the village manager’s performance review under state statute 19.85(1)(c), the Village of Hartland Board of Trustees reconvened in open session and approved compensation changes for the manager.
A trustee moved to grant a 2% salary increase and a separate 2% bonus; the board approved the measure. Meeting minutes state each 2% equated to $3,074, and a trustee asked that the pay change be made effective Jan. 10. The motion carried by voice vote.
The action followed a closed-session evaluation; the board used a roll call to enter closed session and then returned to open session to take action. The board did not publish the manager’s name or performance details in open session minutes.
The board did not attach additional performance conditions or a multi-year salary schedule to the motion. Staff will implement payroll changes in accordance with the board’s direction.
