Kansas City, Kan., planning commission approves suite of special-use permits and zone change; items go to commissioners Jan. 8

The Kansas City, Kansas City Planning Commission voted unanimously on Dec. 8 to approve a series of routine land‑use requests ranging from a short‑term rental renewal to permits for bars, a tire shop and automobile sales, and a change of zone to permit sheep grazing.

The most contested consent‑item removal, special‑use permit SP2025‑081 for a short‑term rental at 809 Central Avenue, was approved after staff confirmed inspection documentation and that an egress window in the basement had been installed. Applicant Tatum Phillip told the panel, "My name is Tatum Phillip, and the address is 809 Central Avenue," and said she was seeking to renew the permit.
