The team from Hutton and Goldberg Group said the site covers about 3.12 acres and the building footprint is approximately 28,315 square feet (about 19,000 square feet for the health department and about 9,000 square feet for EMS). Alexi Rojas and Alec Coast reported the project is roughly one‑third complete. The project team said they had zero recordable safety incidents to date.
The project’s current guaranteed maximum price (GMP) is $12,983,000. The presenters said a previously unpriced underground stormwater detention system (estimated at about $200,000) was incorporated and offset by savings and alternates when bids returned, leaving the GMP approximately $10,000 over the earlier estimate.
Construction milestones were running ahead of plan, the superintendent said, and the team moved the owner turnover date to mid‑September 2026. The presentation included technical details about a lightweight insulating concrete roof system and a continuous insulation system with an R‑value cited during the briefing.
Commissioners asked about the project’s fit with workforce training and community showcases; the contractor said the site will host a Western Kansas career‑showcase tour in December to give students exposure to construction trades.
The county asked the team to provide video assets for public posting and to continue periodic six‑month updates to the commission.
