By motion and vote the court:
- Appointed Greg Bingham as the county’s search-and-rescue coordinator (motion carried). - Approved a resolution to pursue a senior citizen building grant and a separate housing-grant resolution; the court was told an architect is engaged and that state lawmakers had been briefed on grant progress. - Accepted high bids on surplus road-department items (tank cars and culverts) with winning bidders identified in the meeting record as Marty Barrett, Randy Wood, Ricky Russell and Keith Harris. - Awarded a tractor bid to AG Revolution at $166,800 and postponed action on sheriff’s office truck purchases. - Authorized surplusing a retired coroner vehicle and approved advertising for bids to repair a park pavilion damaged in a storm (insurance covered $22,000 of the damage). - Approved new hires: two road‑department positions (Ronald Gene Welch, part time; William Grama, full time) and two part‑time animal control kennel assistants (Connor Vanderson and Alicia Green). - Approved the amended 2024 treasurer’s report subject to audit, several bank and appropriation transfers (including an ARPA transfer earmarked for North Marshall Water) and payment of presented bills. - Entered executive session under KRS 61.810(1)(c) and (f) and, following that session, approved counsel’s recommendation on four action items in the county’s opioid settlement. - Voted to file liens on three nuisance properties and authorized foreclosure proceedings on one property in Simpsonia where a lien already exists.
