Parks director says Miracle League registrations rising; Murray State athletes to join Sept. 6 opening

Parks Director Britney Moss told the Marshall County Fiscal Court on Aug. 5 that the parks department has run a busy summer of community events and is preparing a packed fall schedule highlighted by the Miracle League season opening on Sept. 6.
Moss said the county has partnered with Murray State for the Miracle League opening; the university’s team and cheer squad are scheduled to attend as buddies and supporters. “Just about a week and a half into registration opening for fall Miracle League, we are already at 54 registrations,” Moss said, and she encouraged local businesses to buy sponsorship signs to help cover season expenses.
Moss outlined community programs the parks department offered this summer (free yoga in the park, tennis clinics, splash‑pad early access for an exceptional center, rock painting and pop‑up popsicles) and announced key upcoming events: BooBash on Oct. 25, a Marshall County Thanksgiving Kids Parade on Nov. 22 and the county’s Christmas displays beginning Nov. 28. She also said the nonprofit application window for Christmas in the Park is open through Sept. 1.
Moss introduced two high‑school interns, Audree Grace Brown (Marshall County High School) and Ellie Jo Clark (Graves County High School), who described outreach plans including recruiting buddies, social‑media promotion and seeking funds to help low‑income athletes from neighboring Graves County participate. Moss said transportation was the main barrier for some Graves County families and that she and the interns will explore partnering with the Graves County Board of Education to address it.
The parks director said sponsorships are available (example: $200 customized yard signs) and that the department will continue community programming through the fall to expand access to the Miracle League and other activities.
