The Marion County Commission approved a series of routine budget transfers during its Dec. 15 meeting.
A motion to transfer $5,000 from the bait shop line to the parks budget passed by voice vote. The commission also approved a $166,666.66 transfer from road and bridge to special equipment, a $10,000 transfer for Noxious Weed capital outlay, and a transfer of $120,749.34 from Road Main and Improvement to the Capital Improvement Fund after motions and seconding were recorded.
During the treasurer’s report, staff explained a change at the state level: beginning Jan. 1 the state treasurer will move to pooled securities rather than requiring banks to pledge individual securities for county deposits. County staff was advised to expect notification letters from their banks and to contact them if those notices do not arrive. Commissioners discussed whether county investments held in the municipal investment pool could earn higher rates when moved to other county institutions.
Commissioners also discussed a separate claims/reimbursement matter involving damages and a collection agency; staff said documentation enabled the county to recover the original claim and net about $650.
All transfers were approved by voice vote; no roll-call tallies with member names were recorded in the minutes for these actions.
