Council approves multiple Hurricane Ida recovery amendments and small contract change orders

The Lafourche Parish Council voted unanimously on a package of Hurricane Ida recovery amendments and related change orders at its July 22 meeting.
Items approved included an amendment and supplement to the agreement with the Louisiana Department of the Treasury to extend Hurricane Ida recovery funds (moved on behalf of administration and recorded as passed 9–0). The council approved similar extensions or amendments with the Lafourche Parish juvenile justice facility, Lafourche Parish Fire District No. 9 and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office; each resolution authorized the parish president to sign and execute the relevant documents and each passed 9–0.
The council also approved several small change orders tied to repair and rebuild work from Hurricane Ida: Change Order No. 2 for the Cajun Bayou Visitor Center (increase $5,660.39); Change Order No. 3 for the Galiano Government Complex interior rebuild (increase $31,898.42), which prompted questioning from Councilman Lorraine about cumulative program costs; and Change Order No. 2 for the Parish Government Center Trailhead (increase $11,925). On the Galiano change order, Lorraine noted original renovation costs years earlier and questioned why the current tab was approaching amounts near $7 million; the parish president replied that the interior work covers mechanical, HVAC, electrical, walls and flooring and that construction costs have risen since the original renovation.
