The Lafourche Parish Council on Aug. 26 approved a broad consent agenda that included a surplus‑property ordinance, multiple service agreements for the Office of Community Action, grant acceptances and several construction change orders.
Ordinance No. 3 declared certain parish property surplus and authorized advertising items for sale and acceptance of highest qualified bidders; the measure passed after the public hearing with an 8–0 vote among present members (one absence).
The council approved a package of resolutions authorizing agreements to provide temporary housing assistance (Lockport), school-uniform assistance (Jake’s Kids LLC), food assistance (Rouses Enterprise), tuition assistance with four providers, and prescription assistance with three pharmacies. Sponsors said those agreements enable the Office of Community Action to continue client services; votes on these items were recorded as 8 yeas, 0 nays with one absence unless otherwise noted.
The council also approved change orders tied to Hurricane Ida repairs: a $20,263.32 increase for Courthouse Annex renovations and a $25,643.78 increase for the Galiano Government Complex interior rebuild. It later approved a $107,498.77 change order for Block Building phase 2 hurricane repairs; sponsors said the higher costs reflect deterioration of decking, porches and structural components discovered during repair work.
Other actions included awarding miscellaneous materials and culvert bids for the 09/01/2025–08/31/2026 term, approving transportation-revenue funding agreements with Thibodaux, Golden Meadow and Lockport for FY2025–26, accepting a $10,000 Bayou Community Foundation grant, and approving a workforce-services agreement to provide employment and training services in FY2026. The council appointed members to the Parish Community Action Advisory Board and the ITEP committee and approved state-funded water‑district contracts.
Most consent items were moved by administration sponsors (Perk, Brumfield or Broomfield) and passed unanimously among present members; Councilman Adams was marked absent for many votes.
