Lafourche Parish Council approves Diana Lafont as parish administrator

The Lafourche Parish Council voted Aug. 26 to approve Parish President Mitch Ozeron’s nomination of Diana Lafont as parish administrator.
Parish President Ozeron and council members said Lafont brings experience in state government and economic development and cited her work during prior emergency declarations. "She brings a wealth of knowledge," the parish president said in introducing the nomination.
Councilman Daniel Lorraine said Lafont would continue important work with the council and could serve as acting parish president if necessary. The motion to confirm passed 8 yeas, 0 nays, 1 absence (Councilman Adams).
Lafont thanked the council and said she looked forward to learning parish operations, including drainage and other administrative areas, and working with council members in their districts.
The appointment was part of a larger consent agenda that included multiple resolutions, grants and procurement actions approved earlier in the meeting.
