The Central Parish Council voted on Dec. 11 to amend the pay classification plan and authorize a 2.5% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for parish employees, effective Jan. 5, 2026.
Parish staff introduced the ordinance amending the previously adopted classification plan; the proposed revision was prepared by the Human Resources director and submitted by the parish president. The ordinance was moved through the public‑hearing motions and the council recorded no objections in the public transcript.
Councilmembers framed the amendment as a uniform across-the-board adjustment to salary ranges: "authorize the amendment of the pay classification plan... and proposed the revision to the parish council for review," the presenting official said. The council instructed Human Resources to implement payroll adjustments with an effective date of Jan. 5, 2026.
The transcript does not record a roll-call tally for this ordinance; motions to open the public hearing, close and move the ordinance were recorded and the chair said "so moved." Human Resources is responsible for implementing the adjustment and updating payroll records.
