At the start of the Sept. 23 meeting, Joseph Fouchieron—identified as a legislative representative—told the council he secured $100,000 through Act 461 for parking improvements on the south side of the parish Ag Pavilion to accommodate vehicles with large cattle trailers. He said the amount was added into a supplemental fund that can flow to political subdivisions for smaller capital projects.
Fouchieron said he worked with former parish president Archie Chasson and Dylan Baron to estimate costs and asked Councilman Araby (whose district includes the pavilion) and Parish President Mitch to join a photo opportunity to mark the funding. Council members thanked him and discussed related bridge and maintenance concerns in the same discussion block.
No formal vote was required for the update; council members asked administration to follow up on whether the $100,000 would cover the full scope of work and whether parish contributions would be needed.
