Penobscot County commissioners approved several routine actions and service agreements at their Nov. 26 meeting in Bangor, including authorization for a Millinocket marathon, an hourly pay increase for the regional animal control officer and the county’s 2026 holiday calendar.

The commission unanimously approved the minutes from its Nov. 18 meeting and then voted to authorize the marathon permit requested by county UT staff so the Millinocket event may proceed. UT staff said the race draws large crowds and benefits Millinocket businesses but is not a direct county revenue source.

Commissioners also approved an hourly pay increase for the regional animal control officer from $17.75 to $18.25 and continued mileage reimbursement at the county rate. The commission learned the ambulance provider’s select board will only offer a one‑year contract this year; staff said the county expects to approve a one‑year ambulance contract tied to current cost uncertainties.

HR presented the 2026 holiday calendar, which the commission approved as presented. Commissioners then approved warrants to close out the meeting.

Actions recorded in the minutes included approval of the Nov. 18 meeting minutes; authorization of the Millinocket marathon permit; approval of a recommended ACO pay increase; acknowledgement that the ambulance vendor will be offered a one‑year contract; approval of the 2026 holiday calendar; and approval of the day’s warrants. The meeting record shows votes were taken by voice and the chair declared the motions carried.
