Grant County adopts 2026 highway priorities and approves facilities contracts

Staff also noted equipment purchases under consideration and confirmed three major purchases (road grader approved earlier, emulsion trailer, and a pickup truck).
The board approved the highway committee’s motion to adopt the 2026 construction program and budget assumptions so staff may proceed with design, bidding and bonding preparation.
On facilities, the board approved one-year preventive-maintenance contracts presented by Ellington for courthouse and law-enforcement heating systems, a boiler inspection contract to ensure compliance, and a PSM controls contract for building systems. The board also authorized purchase of a storage container for equipment staging at the recycling center, a small floor scrubber for courthouse maintenance, and a heavy-duty garage door opener for the recycling center garage door.
Staff reported final installation of security cameras and said the facilities team could sign routine vendor contracts as authorized representatives.
Next steps: staff will proceed with bidding on highway projects, finalize contract signatures, and schedule the approved procurements. Bonding and reimbursement schedules will be coordinated with state screening boards and grant programs.
