Buffy Branick, representing Sumtrend as a consultant (S16), presented the 2026 HRA budget request and levy recommendation and the board approved the HRA levy during the Dec. 16 meeting.
Branick said the HRA levy request totals $386,940, a 2% increase over 2025, and that the levy breaks into three components: $90,940 for the general fund (county-subsidized at 50%), $10,000 for community development grant matching (spread among participating counties), and $124,000 to subsidize rental assistance and debt coverage on existing bonds for five local housing projects. She also said the housing trust fund request is $100,000 and that the HRA will release an RFP for those funds soon.
The board moved and approved the HRA levy as presented and thanked Branick for her service and presentation. Staff said they expect to continue monitoring housing program performance and will proceed with the housing trust fund RFP if the funding is available.
