MCIT presents insurance, cyber and workers’ compensation trends to Grant County board

Meaghi said MCIT announced no aggregate rate increase for 2026 for the pool, though individual county contributions could change if they add covered assets or staff. He highlighted cyber risk as a growing exposure and described loss-control services MCIT offers — training, awareness and online compliance modules — aimed at reducing frequency and severity of incidents.
On workers' compensation, Meaghi told commissioners Grant County’s experience-mod rating was under the pool average, which reduces the county’s comp charges. He also described member services such as an employee assistance program and online officer training available to participating counties.
Commissioners asked about specific coverage items and inspection services; Meaghi said MCIT’s reinsurance carrier provides certain inspection services (e.g., pressure-vessel inspection through Hartford Steam Boilers) and that MCIT can follow up on detailed questions.
