At a Dec. 2 Drainage Authority session, Otter Tail County appointed two county commissioners to serve on a joint board with Wadena County for County Ditch 2 and approved a transfer of remaining Ditch 30 funds back into the county general fund.
Drainage Inspector Palmer Shine proposed a resolution to appoint two commissioners to a joint board to administer County Ditch 2 while a redetermination of benefits proceeds in Wadena County. Shine said County Ditch 2 has 297 benefit acres in Otter Tail and 871 in Wadena; the authority discussed opting out of a joint board on another ditch with minimal benefit in Otter Tail. The resolution to appoint commissioners (as recorded by roll call) carried.
Later the authority approved a resolution to move the remaining balance in the Ditch 30 fund into the county general fund to permit reimbursement checks to property owners to be paid out; staff said the transfer will not affect reimbursement amounts to benefited owners because those checks are being paid from the general fund with interest as applicable.
Both actions were approved at the Drainage Authority meeting, which then adjourned.
