Votes at a glance: Waseca County board (Aug. 19 work session)

At its Aug. 19 work session, the Waseca County Board of Commissioners took the following formal actions:

- Approved Resolution 2025-35 authorizing off-site camping (motion carried by voice vote). - Approved a conditional use permit for a contractor’s showroom on a wetlands-impacted parcel with a recorded restrictive covenant preventing residential conversion (CUP vote recorded 4–1). - Approved a conditional use permit for a 5 MW community solar garden; staff corrected the decommissioning escrow to $225,000 (45,000 per MW). The developer agreed to additional screening plantings and to perform stray-voltage testing per neighbors’ concerns; board approved CUP with 11 conditions. - Approved a motion to demolish the uninhabitable house at Courthouse Park, leave the pavilion in place, and bring the remaining park-vision items back to a work session after the first of the year (voice vote, motion carries). - Approved final payment on County Contract 812504 for asphalt work (final payment $4,899.59; certified final amount $97,991.80). - Adopted an amended resolution (2025-36) declaring a state of emergency to permit preliminary damage assessment and possible pursuit of disaster-assistance funding (three-day minimum window). - Authorized a department name change for Court Services to Waseca County Community Corrections effective Oct. 1 to align with transition to the Community Corrections Act.

These items were discussed in staff presentations and, where required, moved, seconded and approved during the meeting. Vote tallies were recorded where roll-call style counts were used; many other items were adopted by voice vote.
