The Jackson County Board of Supervisors on Dec. 30 approved a resolution to award a fog-seal road contract for County Highway Z20 to Varner Asphalt Sealers LLC, the low bidder at $86,880.
Jaden from the county engineer's office described the project as a fog-seal on the asphalt portion of Z20 from Highway 64 northward to where concrete pavement begins (about four miles). He said the DOT-funded project received Varner Asphalt Sealers LLC as the low bidder and recommended Resolution 1159-12-30-2025 to award the work.
A motion to approve the resolution was made and seconded; the chair announced the motion carried. In related business, Jaden advised the board the Channelworth bridge will be closed beginning Jan. 12 for repairs triggered by three cracks found in testing. Origin Design will propose repair details, a county staff member (Dan) will perform the work, and the structure will be re‑inspected before full reopening. Jaden also said the county submitted Moorhead Bridge for annual bridge construction funds and expects a DOT decision in March or April.
The board did not record detailed roll-call votes in the transcript; the motion to award the contract and the related bridge update were approved as moved.
