Mayor Mary Deb Whitfield and members of the Lawrence City Common Council on Dec. 29 presented a proclamation honoring Councilor Lisa Chavis for 10 years of service.

Mayor Whitfield read the proclamation, noting Chavis was first elected in 2015 and later served as Council Vice President and Council President. "We do hereby extend and express our deepest gratitude to Councilor Lisa Chavis for her 10 years of dedicated service to the people of the city of Lawrence," Whitfield said as she read the text of the proclamation signed that evening.

Councilors offered personal remarks thanking Chavis for her leadership and wished her well as she transitions from the council. The meeting adjourned shortly after the presentation.
