Residents raise safety concerns at Oak Tree Lane; city to install temporary stop signs while PG&E completes work

Residents told the Lincoln City Council on Dec. 9 that the intersection at Oak Tree Lane and State Route 193 is dangerous, citing recent crashes, narrow lanes and blocked right-turn lanes used for parking. Fran Nevis described a three-car accident in January and asked the city to re-open a right-turn lane and install temporary lighting.
City staff (Sean) and an engineer (Tony) responded that Pacific Gas & Electric’s timetable delayed installation of electrical infrastructure required for permanent traffic signals. To reduce danger during the contractor’s staging and trenching work — which uses concrete k-rail barriers — the city will temporarily convert the intersection to a three-way stop, add warning signs and monitor traffic flow until the electrical work is energized and permanent signal poles are installed.
Tony explained the k-rail layout is intentional during phased trenching and paving operations; once underground work is complete, the k-rail will be moved and the signalized intersection restored. Staff committed to inspect the right-turn lane area and follow up with the resident.
No formal council action beyond staff commitments was taken during the meeting; the temporary stop implementation and any lighting or lane changes are staff actions.
