County Sees Warrant Inventory Decline; DA, Sheriff Outline Batch-dismissal and Fugitive Operations

Santa Barbara County officials reported Dec. 9 that the current active-warrant inventory has declined to historic lows and that the large majority of active warrants are for misdemeanor-level offenses. County data presented by the probation department showed the active warrant list had fallen to about 9,670 (a snapshot used for the subcommittee), with roughly 80% misdemeanor warrants and 20% felonies; only about 4% were statutorily defined strike offenses.
