The consultant presented three scenarios: (1) do nothing (recommended); (2) install sheet piling/vinyl piling to form a weir (feasible but likely to require annual maintenance and offer minimal elevation change); (3) remove unstable soils (impractical given cost). The county engineer and commissioners discussed the limited water‑level benefit and maintenance burden; the board moved to leave the ditch as is and not expend ditch funds on major repairs.
On Ditch 30, staff reported the ditch was never established or constructed; assessments and prepayments from property owners from various years total $39,067.73. Including 4% interest, the total to reimburse would be $52,833.42. The board ordered dismissal of the ditch proceedings, termination of assessments and county‑supported repairs, and authorized sending letters to affected landowners to request acknowledgment before issuing reimbursements; the board conducted a roll‑call vote and carried the motion.
County staff said letters and reimbursement checks will be mailed as acknowledgments return.
