Airport renovation advances; airline visit and celebration set for Dec. 16

Staff said they are holding twice-weekly construction and coordination meetings, working with contractors and SkyWest representatives, and are exploring a temporary terminal solution using Guy Stout’s hangar. The airport manager said contractors will be on site to help develop an airport security plan and that consultants will provide a ballpark cost estimate to support an NDA grant and project budgeting.
The manager announced a renovation celebration and airline event scheduled for Dec. 16 at 10:30 a.m.; SkyWest representatives and local economic development partners were expected to attend. The board also discussed placing a resolution in place to enable additional airport financing if necessary and directed staff to move forward with consultant visits while finalizing cost estimates.
Next steps: staff to finalize consultant cost estimates, coordinate SkyWest visit logistics and prepare any necessary resolution language should additional financing be required.
