Commissioners extend Pasquotank stray-dog agreement 30 days and approve routine business items

Currituck County commissioners on Nov. 3 extended by 30 days a memorandum of understanding with Pasquotank County for acceptance of stray dogs. County staff said the earlier agreement allowed Pasquotank to send up to three dogs per week for a 60-day period; Pasquotank requested an extension through Dec. 1 while it brings its shelter back online. The board delegated authority to the county manager to sign required documents and noted the county will invoice Pasquotank for vaccines and food; adoption fees from unreclaimed animals will be retained by Currituck if applicable.
The board also approved the consent agenda by voice vote. Later in the meeting, commissioners approved granting county staff eight hours of leave in lieu of a holiday luncheon (a benefit the board provided the prior year).
