Kevin Ensley was elected chair of the Haywood County Board of Commissioners during the board’s Dec. 1 meeting, and the board named Brandon Rogers vice chair.
The organizational votes began when an unidentified commissioner nominated Kevin Ensley for chair; no other nominations were made and the board approved the nomination by unanimous voice vote. Commissioners then opened nominations and selected Brandon Rogers as vice chair, also by unanimous voice vote.
The board approved a 2026 holiday and meeting schedule after a brief procedural motion to adopt the calendar. The minutes for the body were corrected for a typographical year error and the consent agenda, which contained five items, was approved with that correction.
The board chair reminded participants of public-comment rules — speakers must not discuss candidacy or party platforms unless directly related to an item on the agenda — and said the board will read that policy at the start of the next meeting.
The meeting’s procedural actions concluded with adjournment by unanimous voice vote.
