Granville County reduces Board of Adjustment regular membership from seven to five
Summary
After a public hearing with no speakers, the Granville County Board of Commissioners approved an amendment to the Land Development Code to reduce regular membership on the Board of Adjustment from seven to five and make related technical edits; the Planning Board had recommended approval 7–0.
Granville County commissioners unanimously approved a Land Development Code text amendment on Nov. 17 to reduce the number of regular members on the county’s Board of Adjustment from seven to five and to make technical edits to section 32992.
Planning staff opened the legislative public hearing, said all statutory public-notice requirements had been met, and noted the county Planning Board had recommended approval by a 7–0 vote at its Oct. 16 meeting. No members of the public spoke for or against the amendment. Commissioners moved to adopt the ordinance text amendment and the motion carried.
Staff said the technical edits clarify Board of Adjustment membership appointment language, make clear the BOA hears more than just appeals, and explicitly establish quorum language for regular and alternate members.
What happens next: staff will implement the updated LDC text and notify affected boards and stakeholders of the changes.
