Bridal Gibbons, speaking for the county’s veterans department, told the board the office received a state grant of "over $18,000" that will be used to support veterans in Anson County. He said grant paperwork has been submitted and that a second grant application is pending.
Gibbons invited veterans and the public to a brief Veterans Day ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. in Wadesboro City Park; the event will include a guest speaker, representatives from the local VFW and refreshments. He said some grant funds were used for office equipment and education-related expenses.
Commissioners thanked him for the update and noted coordination with the congressman’s district staff and local veterans organizations. No funding request to the county was made at the meeting.
