Anson County adopts resolution allocating $386,169 in opioid settlement funds to local programs

The Anson County Board of Commissioners voted to adopt a resolution formalizing how the county has spent and will continue to use opioid-settlement funds.
The county manager reported that Anson County has appropriated $386,169 across six strategies that include recovery support services, addiction treatment for incarcerated people, naloxone distribution, treatment/recovery programs, and collaborative strategic planning including support for a Tri-County Child Advocacy Center. The manager told the board the county has submitted required reports to the finance department and state monitors have reviewed the documentation.
Chair entertained a motion to approve the opioid-settlement resolution; the motion (moved by Commissioner Ellerbe, second by Commissioner Gatewood) passed by voice vote. The manager said the county will forward the resolution and progress reports to the state to satisfy monitoring requirements.
The county did not amend allocated amounts during the meeting; commissioners approved the resolution as presented and directed staff to continue quarterly reporting and monitoring of program outcomes.
