Cleveland County commissioners elect Kevin Gordon chair, Dan Hart vice chair

Kevin Gordon was elected chair of the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners at the board’s annual organizational meeting on Dec. 2, 2025; Dan Hart was chosen as vice chair.
The board opened nominations after a presenter explained the annual process of selecting leadership for the coming year. Dave Cotton nominated Kevin Gordon for chair; the nomination was seconded and approved by the board. Dan Hart was nominated for vice chair, seconded and approved unanimously.
The meeting proceeded with routine business: the board voted to adopt the proposed agenda with the noted changes and approved the consent agenda, all by voice vote. The chair also announced the next regular meeting will be held Jan. 20, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Chambers.
The reorganization followed the county’s standing practice for December meetings, in which the board formally names leadership for the calendar year. No contentious debate or roll-call vote was recorded for either leadership motion; minutes show voice approval.
