Commissioners approve raising veteran services board per‑meeting pay from $1.75 to $200

Malloy said the proposal followed research into other counties and meeting minutes provided by Carrie Delgado, the county veteran services director, and praised the board’s work and outreach.
"I'd like to make a motion we approve the increase in the compensation for the board members attending meetings of the veteran services commissioners from the current rate of $1.75 per meeting to $200 per meeting effective 12/01/2025," Commissioner Malloy said in presenting the motion.
Commissioner Bernard, speaking as a veteran, and Commissioner Hernandez both voiced agreement and appreciation for the board and its staff. Bernard noted board members often operate on fixed incomes and incur travel-related costs; he said compensation is appropriate. The motion was seconded from the floor and then approved on roll call: Malloy—yes; Bernard—yes; Hernandez—yes.
The board did not record additional changes to the board’s duties or meeting frequency in the minutes. Implementation steps recorded in the meeting designate the clerk and relevant office to process the compensation change for meetings occurring on or after Dec. 1, 2025.
